Schools are an important part of the community as well as key co-op customers. They face rising utility bills, aging facilities, and competing demands for limited resources. Our new program provides tools & training to help co-ops partner with schools for energy analysis benchmarking (using ENERGY Star Portfolio Manager Software) and walk-thru audits to identify no-cost and low-cost energy efficiency opportunities.

Facts:

There are more than 172,000 schools in the US, and at least 79,000 are in co-op territories
Schools spend over $6 Billion a year on energy, yet 25% of that energy is wasted
Schools spend more on energy than textbooks and computers combined
It's getting worse -- per pupil energy expenditure rose 19% from 2007 to 2008
